Welcome to the Notifications User Guide. The notifications function in the 9ine Platform helps you stay informed about important updates, tasks, and deadlines across all areas of the Platform.

Accessing notifications

The notifications bell icon is located at the in the header and displaying a number that represents your unread notifications. When you click the notifications icon, a popup will appear showing all your notifications. You can quickly clear all unread notifications by clicking the Mark all as read button. When marking all notifications as read, it will reset the notification count on the icon. Notifications are grouped by date, with the latest and yesterday displayed first, followed by older notifications organised by date. Notifications are loaded in batches of 10, and you can select Load More to view additional notifications. If there are no notifications to display, the message No New Notifications is shown.

Understanding the types of notifications

To manage the types of notifications you receive, click the settings icon in the notification popup. You can receive notifications both in-Platform and via email. There are five main categories of notifications, which you can manage individually.

Assignments: These notifications alert you when you are assigned or reassigned to an item in the Platform. This includes being made an owner, member, reviewer, approver, Data Protection Lead, IT Lead, or attachment reviewer on a task, project, or other Platform item.

Example: You receive a notification when you are assigned as a task owner.

Comments: You’ll be notified when you are mentioned in a comment or added to a discussion thread across any module or item.

Example: Another user mentions you in a task's description, note, or additional notes, triggering a notification.

Global Lifecycle Alerts: These notifications alert you to key milestones such as end dates, renewal reminders, termination periods, due dates, approval dates, attachment review dates, and next review dates. Notifications are triggered based on your personal reminder and repeat settings.

Example: You receive an email and in-Platform alert 14 days before a contract is due to renew.

General Updates – For Me: Stay informed about updates made to items where you are directly assigned, such as being the owner, reviewer, approver, Data Protection Lead, or IT Lead.

Example: You are notified when a risk assessment you own is updated.

General Updates – For Others: These notifications alert you to changes made to items you’re indirectly involved with—such as being listed as a member or having a linked task even if you’re not directly assigned.

Example: You receive a notification when another team member updates a task linked to a vendor assessment you are part of.

Managing your notification settings

In the notification popup, you will see toggle buttons for each notification type (Assignments, Comments, Global Lifecycle Alerts, General Updates – For Me, and General Updates – For Others). Turn these on or off according to your preferences. After adjusting your preferences, click the Save button. A confirmation message (toaster) will appear, and you will be taken back to the main notifications screen.
