This video explains the Vendor Library, a central resource that helps schools assess and manage privacy, safeguarding and AI-related risks linked to their EdTech providers.
From the left-hand menu, select Vendor Library.
Review each vendor's detailed assessment, which covers compliance with data protection law, AI use aligned with the European Union AI Act, and legal obligations across the UK, USA and other jurisdictions. Insights include:
A risk profile covering privacy compliance, AI usage and safeguarding.
Indicators of special category data processing and related safeguarding concerns.
Vendor transparency details, such as whether a provider claims Controller status.
Understand that each vendor assessment is supported by a Processing Operation Assessment, documenting data protection contacts, AI use and special category data processing.
Use Sort to organise the library, Search to find a specific provider, and alphanumeric pagination to browse by starting letter, number or character.
Look for labels showing assessments that are New, Recently Updated, Coming Soon or part of 9ine's Certified Program.
Hover over the icons on a vendor tile to see assessment status, AI involvement, special category data processing and safeguarding flags.
Select Preview to see more detail – status, special category data or AI involvement, safeguarding considerations, and associated risks, issues, lessons and tasks.
Tip: The Description accordion can hold extra information explaining updates or assessment details.
Use Quickstart to add a vendor and its processing operation assessment directly from the library.
Note: This needs access to the Vendor Platform and permission from your administrator. Quickstart items carry a distinct icon in the first column, which is removed once the assessment is edited and saved.
Link vendors to Records of Processing Activities, Data Protection Impact Assessments and the Application Library – the school-facing space where staff can view approved EdTech tools, key privacy, safeguarding and AI information, and shared guides and reviews.
