Can I create a project without a project group? Projects

Yes, it is possible to create a project that does not belong to a project group. This is referred to as a standalone project. You can select or remove a project group when editing a project by selecting your preferred project group title.

How are project group permissions linked to individual projects? Projects

If a project is part of a project group, the project group’s Owner, Members, Notified Users, and Attachment Reviewers are automatically granted edit and delete privileges for the project. These users are not shown in the project log or popup but still have inherited permissions. To view a project group's permission, navigate to the project group log.

How are permissions inherited from a project to associated risks, issues, lessons, and tasks? Projects

A project’s permissions, such as Owner, Member, Notified User, and Attachment Reviewer, are automatically inherited by any associated risks, issues, lessons, and tasks. The project is considered a parent in the permission hierarchy, granting edit and delete permissions to the child items.

How can I schedule and manage time in a project? Projects

The scheduling tab allows you to set start dates, due dates, and the project timeline. Time can be estimated and logged against tasks, but it is not possible to log time directly against a project. Time entries are displayed in a visual bar that changes colours (on the Projects log) based on the logged and estimated time.

What is the relationship between tasks and projects in terms of cost and time? Projects

Time and cost behave differently. Time is estimated and logged against a project's tasks, and the project's total estimated and logged time is rolled up from those tasks for display; you cannot log time directly against the project.

Cost works separately: you can estimate and log cost against the project and against individual tasks, but task costs are not aggregated into the project cost total, and the project's own cost is not added to its tasks.

The projects log shows the project cost and the task cost as separate figures, and all tasks and the project must use the same currency.

Can I estimate and log costs for a project? Projects

Yes, costs can be estimated and logged both for a project and individual tasks. However, project cost and task cost are kept separate: task costs are not rolled into the project cost total, and a Total logged task cost is shown on the tab for convenience only. The platform allows you to view cost logs, track changes, and ensure all tasks within a project use the same currency.
